After our appointment to the project, the new brand for Bolton Credit
Union is now live, or should that be alive!, meet Twit (above left) and
Twoo (Above right).
As a correlatory affect of the 2008/2009 economic situation Bolton Credit Union
recognised there was a direct and immediate need to reassure its current investors
that their money was in good hands. It also viewed the situation as an opportunity
to expand its client base by appealing to ‘traditional’ bank-orientated investors
by highlighting the positive and ethical aspects of its banking practices.
It was clear the organisation had to address its name first and foremost as,
whilst it may be familiar to its current clients, it in no way appealed to new
markets. We had to establish a name that not only respected current investors
values and long-standing relationship with the Credit Union but also provided
suitable appeal to more affluent new markets.
The new brand [Hoot] was born. It was supported by 2 characters called ‘Twit
and Twoo’. Twit, is as his name suggests, not the wisest of owls. Whereas
Twoo is well-versed in ethically-led banking with a keen focus on his customers.
Twoo plays an advisory role to Twit guiding him in how and where best to invest
his money along with highlighting the positives of a Credit Union’s role within
the community.
